Sooq Live is a used-car marketplace for Bahrain, published by an individual developer in the Kingdom of Bahrain. This policy explains, in plain words, what information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using Sooq Live you agree to this policy.
1. What we collect
- Account: your email address, display name and optional profile photo. You can sign in with Apple, Google, email and password, or continue as an anonymous guest. A guest gets a random ID only, with no name or email.
- Alerts: if you turn on alerts, a device push token (Expo) and your alert preferences (for example the brands, models and price range you want to hear about).
- Your activity in the app: favourites and the sellers you block.
- Listings you post: the car details, photos, description and one phone number. The phone number is shown publicly on your listing so buyers can WhatsApp or call you. By posting a listing you agree to this.
- Reports you file about a listing.
- Feedback messages you send us.
- Instagram sellers: if you connect your Instagram professional account, your Instagram user ID, username, account type and an access token. The token is stored on our servers only and is used to read your own media.
- Listing statistics: aggregate counters on each listing (views, opens, contacts). These are totals only; we do not track which user viewed what.
We do not collect your location, contacts or advertising identifiers, and the app contains no advertising SDKs.
2. Where the listings come from
- Instagram seller accounts: public car-sale posts from seller accounts. Sellers who connected through the official Instagram login authorised the display of their posts. Other accounts' public posts are shown with attribution and a link back to the original post.
- Cars posted directly by users of the app.
- Market statistics ("market average", "market report"): compiled as aggregates from public listing asking prices across Bahrain. Individual competitor listings are never shown. All price figures are estimates from asking prices, not valuations.
3. How we use your information
- To run the app: sign you in, show listings, save your favourites and send the alerts you asked for.
- To show your listing, including your phone number, to buyers.
- To check listings before publication: listing text and photos are processed automatically to extract car details and to review them for safety.
- To handle reports and keep the marketplace safe.
- To show connected Instagram sellers aggregate view, open and contact counts.
- To reply to your feedback.
4. Who we share it with
- Google Firebase (Google LLC): sign-in, database, file storage, cloud functions and hosting.
- Expo push service: delivers alerts to your device.
- OpenAI: listing text and photos are processed for car-detail extraction and safety review. No account data is sent.
- Meta / Instagram: only for sellers who connect their Instagram account.
- Other users: your listing (details, photos and phone number) and your display name are public inside the app.
- Authorities, when the law requires it.
We never sell your data and we do not use advertising SDKs.
5. How long we keep it
- Account data: until you delete your account.
- Listings: until you delete them or they expire (each listing lives 30 days and can be renewed).
- Reports: kept as moderation records; the reporter is anonymised after their account is deleted.
- Instagram connection: removed when you disconnect or delete your account.
6. Your choices
- Edit, renew, mark sold or delete your listings from "My cars".
- Turn alerts on or off in Settings or in your device settings.
- Block sellers and report listings from any listing screen.
- Pause or disconnect your Instagram account at any time.
- Delete your account: Settings → Delete account. This deletes your sign-in and a server job purges your user data, listings, photos and Instagram connection. You can also use sooq-live.com/deleteAccount, or email info@sooq-live.com from your account email address; requests are processed within 7 days.
7. Security
We use Firebase authentication, encrypted connections and server-side access rules. Instagram tokens are kept on the server only. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.
8. Children
Sooq%20Live is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. Posting a car requires you to be 18 or older. If you believe a child has given us personal data, email info@sooq-live.com and we will delete it.
9. International transfers
Our service providers may process your data outside Bahrain. We rely on their contractual and technical safeguards to protect it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The new version will be posted in the app and on this page with a new date. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
